   Sagarejo also has its prominent faces, they are artists, writers, public figures, they have left an indelible mark in the history of Georgia. The name of the country taken beyond the borders offers several of them whose roots directly belong to Sagarejo.

Givi Gulisashvili (1913-1995)

biography

Place of birth: Tbilisi.

He graduated from the Tbilisi Academy of Arts in 1938.

Participated in art exhibitions since 1938; Created images, portraits and landscapes depicting modernity; Works: "Case on the Border" (1930), "Horse Swimming" (1938), "Competition of the Brave" (1953), "Georgian" (1978), "King Erekle" (1983); He owns illustrations for books: e. Gabashvili "Magdana Blue", I. Evdoshvili "Children's Stories", a. Khakhutashvili's "Spring Swallows"; Painter, graphic artist.





    Givi Luarsabis dze Kandareli (d. February 21, 1933, village Sagarejo - g. June 7, 2006, Tbilisi) - Georgian artist, tapestry master, ceramicist. Founder of modern Georgian tapestry. [1] One of the founders of the Chinese Tapestry School. [2] Honored Art Worker of the Georgian SSR (1980), Laureate of the Order of Honor and the USSR State Prize (1983).

Davit Ivanishvili

"Davit Ivanishvili was 3-4 years old when he became friends with pencil and paper. The fifth grader drew a project for such a house that a professional architect would envy. The father did not think long, he demolished the old house and built a new one with the project of his fifth grader.

Despite this talent, he chose another path and graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the Agricultural Institute. It was more of a father's wish and David did it too.
Today the economist diploma is attached to a part of the palette and inserted into a thorny frame. There is a broken brush next to it and there is an inscription - "You can choose your future yourself".

Davit Ivanishvili's exhibitions are mainly hosted by foreign galleries and there are also awards. "Ivanishvili is already cut into space by his art," said one well-known critic in New York . 










                                                             
                                                             Sagarejo Theater
    
                 The Puppet national Theater near the Sagarejo Culture House was founded in 1956 under the leadership of Ilia (Kita) Buziashvili. Overall he was greatly assisted by g. Mikeladze Tbilisi State Puppet Theater supplied plays, puppets, revisions and decorations.



 Up to twenty plays staged by generations of actors In the 90s of the last century, the theater, like the country, became difficult, but its existence did not cease. Since 1994, the troupe has been filled with talented and enthusiastic young people. They created puppets with their own hands, decorations, props, found and worked out scripts, staged performances: "Five-Finger", "Kajana", "Forest Comedy", "Lazy Kiko", Manans Goose, "Good Melakuda", " Fairytale Village "," Wolf in boots "," Little Red Riding Hood "," Mysterious Hippopotamus "and others.










      The theater is a laureate of the festivals organized by the Georgian State Folklore Center in 1996-1998-1999-2001-2014, it is a winner in various nominations, awarded with diplomas, diplomas, valuable gifts. In 1999 he was awarded the honorary title of "People's Theater". The theater, with a history of 60 years, continues to be faithful to the service of the audience and contributes to the upbringing of generations.

Gogla  leonidze
 
                       Sagarejo   Is also distinguished because of Gogla  leonidze  ,gogla was born and grew up  in sagarejo. He is one of the most famous and  genius poet of Georgia’s history. He’s work in so philosophical deep mental thinking treasure for us.





        Teimuraz Jangulashvili


        Teimuraz Jangulashvili studied at the Faculty of Philology of Tbilisi State University, but left his studies at the beginning of the Second World War and left for the front. In 1951 he was the head of the district department of culture, from 1951 to 1958. - Director of the Writers' Union Club, and 1958-1966. Head of the Poetry Department of the newspaper "Literary Georgia", and since 1968 editor of the "Book World". His first poem was published in 1937 in a district newspaper.

                                                                    Folklore 

      My town has reach culture. There is Kakheti's folklore  in my town. Our songs are very famous too. Mravaljamieri is one of our songs, its very popular in Georgia. People sing it when children born. Also we have song ,,Chakrulo" which is known worldwide. It is also sent in space. Also we have many dances. One of them is Kakhuri. It is very spectacular and most popular from Kakheti's dances.



        We also have our native dances , ,,kakhuri” and ,,mwyemsuri”. this dances are fun and open . The story of them is about mountain living and goat farming thing . The dances very more popular in past , people were  dancing on holidays and on  happy dates. Now some of the ensembles are still making  modern version of them. 






Sagarejo is also active in the field of women's team, the name of the district has been mentioned at many festivals by the women's ensemble Chinar, which is distinguished by a special sweet voice.




                                                                  Sagarejo Museum

                    Officials in Sagarejo Museum of Local Lore. Brief description of the museum's collections: The museum preserves archeological excavations in the Kakheti region and accidentally discovered material from the Late Bronze Age to the Middle Ages, household and ethnographic materials typical of the local life, works of applied art.

  The city has its own archive and library, and the material preserved here has helped us to find the materials of our city's history.
     Sagarejo Library - Library, a historical monument in Sagarejo. Located at 13 Rustaveli. The library was founded in 1876 on the initiative of the public teacher Alexander Tskhvedadze. Originally a school, it became public in 1889. In 1895-1903 it was located in the house of blacksmith Alex Vashadze. At that time it was managed by teacher Spiridon Gabelashvili. Books will be donated to Shio Aragvispireli for the library. Many rare books were kept in the library in the 90s of the XIX century. The library has been relocated many times and has been housed in the House of Culture building since 1978.
          

Sport

       In Sagarejo, almost all types of sports are recognized around the world, but wrestling is still the most popular, so this sport has made a name for itself in our region thanks to its successful athletes.

Levan Tediashvili




      Freestyle wrestler (82, 90, 100 kg). Champion of the XX and XXI Olympic Games (1972, Munich and 1976, Montreal). Five-time world champion: four times - in freestyle wrestling (1971, 73, 74, 75), once - in sambo (1973). Second prize-winner of the World Cup (1978), World Cup winner (1973), three-time European champion (1974, 76, 78), champion of the 5th USSR Spartakiad (1971), two-time champion of the USSR (1973, 74). Best Athlete of the USSR (1973). The best sportsman of the XX century in Georgia (bronze prize). Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. Knight of the Presidential Order of Excellence, Vakhtang Gorgasali II Degree Order, Sok, Phila, Orders of Honor.

            
 Arsen Mekokishvili

The International Wrestling Federation recalls some interesting facts before the start of the Olympics. A post about Arsen Mekokishvili was published on the official Instagram page of UWW.

'' Olympic Moments - Arsen Mekokishvili won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and became the oldest Olympic champion in the sport. Mekokishvili was 40 years, 3 months and 11 days old '', - writes the page of the International Wrestling Federation.

Arsen Mekokishvili defeated Sweden's Bertil Antonson in a decisive match at the 1952 Olympic Games. In the same year, Davit Tsimakuridze also won Olympic gold on behalf of the Soviet Union. It should be noted that Mekokishvili also won the title of world champion in 2 years. He again defeated Bertil Antonson of Sweden in the final in Tokyo.

         Mamuka Kurdghelashvili - Georgian sambo player. He graduated from the Tbilisi Institute of Physical Culture and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. World Cup winner. World champion among young people. Silver prize winner of the Georgian Judo Championship. Knight of the Medal of Honor.
